Vendors
Vendors
A Vendor is any individual or company that you would pay for goods or services to resell to your Clients. A Studiometry Vendor is almost exactly the same as a Client in Studiometry, but there are a few key differences.

Difference Between Vendors and Clients
Vendors and Clients are stored in the same database in Studiometry. They can both have Contacts, Projects, and To Dos attached to them. They both have categories and ID numbers, colors, names, and nearly every other setting available. There are, however, several differences in the functionality of the two.

- Clients can have Retainers while Vendors cannot.
- Debt/Credits can be assigned directly to Vendors while they cannot be assigned directly to Clients (however Debt/Credits are attached to Projects that are attached to Clients)
- Contacts attached to Vendors automatically appear when editing any Invoice's or Report's Contact To section. For a Client's Contacts to appear in the Contact To section, the Contact must be associated with the same Contact as the current Project OR the Contact must be manually assigned to the Project in the Project's People tab.
- Vendors have a Purchase Orders and Vendored Items tab to easily access data from other Clients and Vendors that is associated with the Vendor.

Creating Vendors
You can create Vendors in two ways: creating a vendor from scratch or converting a Client to a Vendor. To create a new Vendor, click the Plus (+) button in the bottom left of the main window and select New Vendor, or select File Menu > New Vendor. This will create and select a new Vendor that you can edit and enter information into. Once the Vendor has been created you can begin assigning Debt/Credits to the Vendor.

The second way to create a Vendor is to convert a Client to a Vendor. This is useful for users who have created Clients to use as Vendors in previous versions of Studiometry. A warning will appear when you attempt to do this because several things will change in the program when you change a Client to a Vendor. To convert a Client to a Vendor, select the Client in the main window and navigate to the Client Info tab. Click the radio button labeled "Vendor" to bring up the warning and press Continue.

Vendored Items Tab
When you select a Vendor in the Main window, you can navigate to the Vendored Items tab to see a complete list of items that have been assigned to the selected Vendor. These items will usually be attached to Projects for other Clients. Double clicking on an Item will bring up the Debt/Credit editing window where you can view and edit the properties of the Item as if you opened it through the Project's work tab.

Purchase Orders Tab
When you select a Vendor in the Main window, you can click the Purchase Orders tab to see a list of any Reports in Studiometry that have their Vendor To set to a Contact attached to the selected Vendor. Reports can now have a Report To as well as a Vendor To contact to allow for purchase order functionality. You can view information on how to create Purchase Orders in the Purchase Orders section of the help files.

Assigned Debt/Credits to Vendors
All Debt/Credits now have the option to be associated with specific Vendors. When editing a Debt/Credit you can select the Vendor (or None, if no Vendor is associated with the Debt/Credit) to which the item will assigned. This association can be shown on Reports and Invoices for the Debt/Credit's Project, but can also be seen from the other side by listing out all items associated to a specific Vendor. The Vendor options may be disabled or even hidden if the logged in Studiometry Employee does not have the appropriate permissions.
